Wooden Spurtle Set

How our wooden spurtles are made

Our wooden spurtles are handmade at our shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Each spurtle is carved and hand sanded to a smooth finish. Utilizing local local resources is a priority for us. This allows us to be both friendly to the environment and supportive of local industry. We use hardwoods sourced from the Eastern United States.Ā

Spurtles were originally designed in the Highlands of Scotland in the 1400s. They are still popular today and were originally created for stirring porridge. Our take on the original design has lead to an elongated kitchen tool that can still be used for making oatmeal but also serves many other uses in the 21st-century kitchen.Ā The Lancaster Cast Iron spurtle set comes as your choice of two or three spurtles. The set of two includes oneĀ large spurtleĀ as well as aĀ slotted spurtle. The 3 set features an additional mini spurtle. Handmade in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, our spurtles are designed to be ergonomic in your hand and easy to hold. The large spurtles in this set are 12ā€ long and the mini measures in at 10ā€.Ā

Using your Lancaster wooden spurtle set

One of the greatest multi-taskers in the kitchen, spurtles can replace almost any cooking utensil. Spurtles are ideal for stirring batter, whisking eggs, frying omelets, icing cakes, straining veggies and so much more.

Caring for your wooden spurtle set

Our wooden spurtles are easy to clean with warm soapy water. We recommend periodically using food-grade wood butter on all of your wooden kitchen utensils in order to maintain a long life in your kitchen.
